1. Department of Kulliyat-i-Tibb: (Kulliyat Umoor-e-Tabiya)
Kulliyat-i-Tibb refers to the general principles and basic fundamentals of medicine. It is one of the most important active domains of medicine also known as Usool-i-Tibb. It comprises the following five portions of medicine.
- Kulliyat Umoor-i-Tabiya: It refers to the principles and fundamentals of some specific factors derived from Ilm-i-Tabiyaat (physics or physical science) having causative association with the human body either in health or decline in health.
- Kulliyat Asbab, Amraz and Alamat: This section deals with the principles and fundamentals of pathological condition, the principles of Su-i-Mizaj and Su-i-Tarkib (functional or structural deviation).
- Kulliyat Nabz, Baul and Baraz: It mainly concerns with the basic fundamentals regarding Ilm-i-Taskhis (diagnosis).
- Kulliyat-i-Advia: It is concerned with the principles regarding uses, effects and modes of action of drugs.
- Kulliyat-i-Ilaj or Usool-i-Ilaj: This section deals with the principles of therapeutics. It provides knowledge of medical practice and disease management.
Besides these portions of medicine, Dept of Kulliyat also concerns with the study of Arabic language, Mantiq-wa-Falsafa and History of medicine. 80 charts, 15 models, 86 library books and all other requirements as per MSR 2016 are available in our department.

2. Department of Tashreeh- ul-Badan (Anatomy)
The department of Tashreeh-ul-badan was established in the year 2014 in Markaz Unani Medical College. The responsibility of department is teaching of clinical anatomy. The department is deeply committed to high quality teaching and training to the graduate students. The department of Tashreeh-ul-badan is also attached with a cadaver room. 2 cadavers, one cadaver tank, one cadaver bath, 20 dissecting set, 13 dissecting tables, 4 bone cutters,various machines for bones and brain sectioning, tanks with capacity to preserve 2 to 4 bodies, have preservative and chemicals, 19 specimens, 28 models, 47 charts, skeletons, E-learning materials, 53 library books and all other requirements as per the MSR 2016 are available in our department.

3. Department of Munafe-ul-Aza (Physiology)
Physiology is a pre-clinical subject included in the first year BUMS. It deals with the normal functions of human body. There is well equipped physiology lab and lecture area (can accommodate 20 students at a time) in our department. Departmental library facility is also available. The teaching pattern consists of theory classes, practicals, histology, demonstration and tutorials. We have 73 library books, 40 charts, 13 models , 5 specimens and all other required instruments as per the MSR 2016 are available in our department for the smooth functioning of the department.

4. Department of Advia (Unani Pharmacology).
The Advia Department of Markaz Unani Medical College, Kozhikode is having the necessary modern infrastructure with latest teaching aids to impart theoretical and practical teaching and training. This department is having more than 186 Unani raw drugs, 187 models, 73 charts and 26 fixtures. In addition to this, a departmental library having 77 books are available with deals with all kinds of Unani Medical subjects especially Ilmul Advia is present. A Museum of Unani raw drug is available for imparting identification of drugs through organoleptic analysis.
A Herbarium is also available for showing the genuine and authentic specimens of drugs to the students. The students also prepare Records of raw drugs with plant, mineral and animal origin drug details attached with dry sample and also prepare Herbarium sheets.
A Pharmacognosy lab is established as per the CCIM norms along with required laboratory chemicals such as Chloroform, Alcohol, HCL, Sulphuric Acid, Benedict solution, Sodium Nitrate, potassium Nitrate, Citric Acid, Iodine, Xylol, Ethyl Alcohol, 22 Microscopes and other items according to MSR 2016 for plant dissection and taxonomical studies .
This College is having a Herbal Garden spread in more than 4000 sq.mt area in the College campus with more than 262 species of medicinal herbs with more than 75 sq.mt. area demonstration shed with necessary infrastructure for imparting hands on training to the BUMS students.
The Department also conduct the periodical class seminars on Unani medicinal herbs by the students to the oratorical skills among the students. Also this department conduct Medicino-botanical tour for the in situ identification of live herbs and collection of green samples for the preservation in Advia Museum.

5. Department of Saidla (Teaching Pharmacy)
Ilmul Saidla is a non clinical subject included in the third year BUMS. This department equipped with necessary instruments with the latest technology as well as with classical Unani equipments such as Pestle and Mortar (Small, Medium, Porcelain, Iron) Pounding Apparatus, Crucibles, Distillation Apparatus, Wet Grinder, Mixi, Juice Extractor, Refrigeritor, Balances, Heating Devices, Big Vessels and all other items according to the MSR 2016. Since the establishment has shown a lot of progress both academically and in research fields of major interest in the special context of improvement in various dossage forms used in Unani Medicine, preparation of newer dosage forms and standardization & Quality assurance of the finished products. There is well equipped saidla lab and lecture area in our department. Departmental library facility is also available. The teaching pattern consists of theory classes, practicals and tutorials.

6. Department of Mahiyatul Amraz (Pathology)
The Department of Mahiyatul Amraz was established in the year of 2014 in Markaz Unani Medical College & Hospital. The responsibility of the department is teaching pathology with emphasis on clinical aspects. While teaching Mahiyatul Anraz – Pathology, an emphasis is made on integrating modern knowledge of pathology with Unani pathology. Department of Mahiyatul Amraz has its own well equipped laboratory. 22 models, 35 charts , 5 specimens and other miscellaneous items and all other requirements as per the MSR 2016 are available in our department. The lab has sitting capacity for 20 students. There is also a departmental library with 37 books. Seminars and symposiums are regularly connected for overall development of the students.

7. Department of Tahaffuzi Wa Samaji Tib (Preventive & Community Medicine)
This department is dedicated to promote health awareness through education and training. On a regular basis the department organizes awareness programmes, healthcare camps for the community crowd and school children and provide preventive health care services to the community.
The department has a museum with necessary collection of 3D models (42 in numbers), 36 specimens and well defined 50 mounted charts and all other requirements as per the MSR 2016. It has essential equipments for water disinfection process. Department is also maintaining a seminar library having reference and textbook, (with 93 books) in the subject of Tahaffuzi wa Samaji Tib.

8. Department of Moalajat (Medicine)
Department of Moalajat is one of the pillars of Markaz Unani Medical College. Keeping with the vision of the Institute, we focus equally on student educations as well as patient care. For that we have a well equipped departmental library with 44 books, 30 charts, 20 models and 5 specimens for the purpose of demonstration in the department and an out patient department (OPD) in the hospital with a good amount of patients visiting for a wide variety of diseases. We also provide the facility of admission in Indoor Patient Department (IPD). Our expertise is in general medicine. We deal with all medical cases ranging from common conditions like Diabetes, Hypertension, and Arthritis etc to chronic conditions with disabilities such as Stroke and Paralysis.

Department of Ilmul Qabalat wa Amraze Niswan was establishedin 2017 with the objective of providing high quality teaching and training aids to students through power point presentation, video demonstration of different obstetrics and gynecological procedures, ward teaching, OPD, IPD student’s duties on regular basis. Medical camps are organized with active participation of students from time to time. Department has 31 library books, 56 charts, 10 models and 3 specimens and all other requirements as per the MSR 2016.

10. Department of Amraz-e-Atfal (Paediatrics)
This department was established in the year 2015.Since, then, it is engaged in teaching pediatrics to 3rd year BUMS students. Department has 45 library books, 56 charts, 12 models, and 5 specimens and all other items as per the MSR 2016.Besides conducting lecture, preclinical labs are also conducted. It is continuously striving for improvements in the standers of the teaching, adopting better teaching methodologies; developing student oriented cum-need based curricula and evolving holistic and comprehensive evaluation methods. The department is not only providing a breadth and depth of knowledge of the subject, but simultaneously allowing the students to have an insight into the disease process and treatment during their OP and ward duties in the hospital. Currently, daily OPD is running in the MUMC&H with a mission and vision to advocate optimal healthcare to the pediatric age group through Unani medicines. The hospital can also accommodate 5 beds for the admission of patients.

11. Department of Jarahat ( Surgery)
Ilmul Jarahat i.e. surgery is always an integral part of Unani System of Medicine. Many renowned Unani physicians has described Jarahat as a treatment for diseases when required. Abul Qasim Zahrawi popularly known as Al-Zahrawi or Abulcasis considered as greatest surgeon of Middle East and has been described as the Father of Surgery.
The department has 37 library books, 54 charts, 10 models, 8 specimens and all other requirements as per the MSR 2016.
Faculty members in department of Ilmul Jarahat are providing high quality teaching in the classroom, OPD and IPD. Many surgical procedures are performing in operation theatre.

12. Department of Ain, Uzn, Anf, Halaq wa Asnan (ENT)
The Department of Ain, Uzn, Anf, Halaq, Wa Asnan was established in the year 2013 in Markaz Unani Medical college& Hospital. This is the clinical subject included in the final year B.U.M.S. The department is deeply committed to high quality teaching and training to the graduate students. A number of models, charts are used to impart knowledge and skills to the students. The department regularly conducts seminar and symposium to understanding of the subject. The hospital has well maintained OPD, IPD, minor & major operation theaters for Ain, Uzn, Anf, Halaq, Wa Asnan.

13. Department of Amraze Jild Wa Tazeeniyat (Dermatology And Cosmetology)
Department of Amraze Jild Wa Tazeeniyat deals with Dermatology and Cosmetology, a subject introduced to students in the 4th year of BUMS. It has been recently separated from the department of Moalajat and is established as an independent department, with a dermatology training module, which is still being followed with modifications as per changing requirements from time to time.
The department is equipped with 25 charts, 11 models and 3 specimens for the purpose of demonstration to students, and harbors a separate departmental library with a good collection of Unani as well as modern medicine books of the concerned subject. All other required items as per the MSR 2016 are available.
There is a separate out patient department (OPD) for Amraze Jild Wa Tazeeniyat in the hospital with a good run of patients with skin diseases. Also there is facility for admission to Indoor Patient Department (IPD). The department provides Unani treatment based on classical unani diagnosis, simultaneously not neglecting the modern day equipments.

14. Department of Ilaj Bit Tadbeer (Regimental Therapy)
It is the method of treatment by modification of six essential factors (Asbab-e-sittah zarooriyah) namely 1) atmospheric air, 2)food and drink, 3) Physical movement and rest, 4)Psychic movement and rest, 5) Sleep and wakefulness, 6) Retention and evacuation.
Our hospital is having well equipped Regimental therapy unit in which various regimental procedures like Cupping, Massage, Leeching, Venesection, Zimad, Herbal bandage and Steam bath etc are performed. Patients mainly suffering from neurologic and musculoskeletal disorders are benefitted from these procedures. Department has 32 library books, 35 charts, 5 models and 5 specimens. All other required items as per the MSR 2016 are also available in our department.
